How to Create a Profitable Parking Center from Energy Available to All
The International BG Car Show is taking place from March 21 to 27, 2024, and alongside the premieres of the latest vehicles, this year’s event focuses on electric and hybrid vehicles, equipment and technologies, as well as innovative concepts in the field of e-mobility. During the show, Propulzija will present the unique Greenport parking ecosystem in Hall 2, Level A of the Belgrade Fair and introduce to the audience how it is possible to create a profitable parking center with the help of solar energy.
The share of energy from renewable sources is increasing throughout Europe, including the Western Balkans region. Data from the EU Statistical Office shows that renewable energy accounted for an average of 23 percent of total energy consumption in the EU during 2022. Although it may sound incredible, almost the entire Western Balkans region is above this level. Common for the entire region is the increasing use of energy from renewable sources. The fastest growing source of energy not only in Europe but also worldwide is solar energy – the most widespread resource on Earth that does not produce pollution during electricity production.
The solar car canopy, Propulzija Greenport, represents a system of solar panels that cover parking spaces for commercial and industrial use and enables the user to generate their own electricity and save on the energy they consume.
Dejan Blagojević, Propulzija’s CEO, emphasizes that solar car canopies are the future of sustainable industrial, residential, and commercial parking. „By installing Greenport on just two parking spaces, we create 7,100 kWh of green energy annually, which enables an average electric car to travel up to 36,400 kilometers per year. The cost of industrial electricity will decrease by 12 percent annually, while such production simultaneously covers up to 70 percent of household electricity consumption annually.“ He adds that „With government subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles, the installation of Greenport solar car canopies also brings annual savings in commercial charging costs of up to 3,500 euros and enables an electric car to travel up to 36,400 kilometers per year.“
Solar car canopies also enable the generation of energy to power electric vehicles, and there will undoubtedly be more of them. In mid-2023, there were just over 1,700 in Serbia, while just three years earlier, in 2020, there were only 102. Longer-term estimates suggest that by 2040, as many as 300,000 electric vehicles could be sold in Serbia. As for electric chargers, according to data from early January, by the end of 2024, there will be a total of 113 on highways and expressways in Serbia. Currently, there are eight, and an additional 18 are being installed. The investment in the Propulzija Greenport ecosystem quickly pays off, and everything after that is a clear gain for the user – a profitable center of energy available to all.
